This Keto White Chicory Oven Bake is so simple and delicious. One part we will make with garlic & herb cream cheese and macadamia nuts and the other part with a Mozzarella cheese crust. Very nice as a side dish or with your favourite piece of meat.

Step by step instructions

Follow the below step by step instructions to make this easy oven bake dish with white chicory.

1. Wash and cut the chicory in half

Firstly, wash the white chicory. Remove bad leaves if necessary. Secondly, cut all of them in half.

 

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 356 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Boil the chicory for 15 minutes

Take a big cooking pan and add about 2/3 of it with water. Add 0.25 teaspoon of salt to the water. Then place the white chicories inside.

 

Once the water is boiling, wait about 10 to 15 minutes till the white chicory is getting soft.

 

Prick the chicories with a knife or fork to see if they are already cooked.

 

Once they are fully cooked, you can place the chicories in a colander. Let the water drain for about 5 minutes.

 

Tip 1: A splash of vinegar with the boiling water helps the chicory to retain their white colour.

3. Bake the Keto White Chicory in an oven tray with cheese (2 variations)

Grease an oven dish with olive oil. Add the drained chicories in the dish and add salt and pepper on top.

 

Way 1: Spread one half of the white chicories with the garlic & herb cream cheese. Sprinkle pieces of chopped salted macadamia nuts on top of the cream cheese.

 

Way 2: Then add grated mozzarella cheese on the other side of the chicories. 

 

Place the oven dish in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes on 180 degrees Celsius / 356 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

Keep on checking the oven and remove the dish once the mozzarella cheese is getting a golden brown colour.

  • 350 grams (4 x ) white chicories
  • 100 grams Mozzarella cheese grated (for half the dish)
  • 2 tbsp / 22 grams garlic herb cream-cheese (for half the dish)
  • 30 grams macadamia nuts
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp freshly grounded black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Wash the 4 white chicories and cut all of them in half.
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 356 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Take a big cooking pan and add about 2/3 of it with water. 
  • Add 0.25 teaspoon of salt to the water and place the white chicories inside.
  • Once the water is boiling, wait about 10 to 15 minutes till the white chicory is getting soft.
